Defense of White Collar Crimes in southern and central Louisiana
"White collar crime" is a term used to describe a wide variety of financial crimes —examples include mail fraud, wire fraud, credit card theft and embezzlement. Under the law, white collar crimes are usually charged and prosecuted in federal criminal court, rather than in state court.
Federal criminal court is different from state criminal court. Differences exist in both the procedures and the penalties, which are often stiffer in federal court.
A person facing investigation or arrest for white collar crimes should consider the specific experience of the criminal defense attorney he or she chooses. Does the lawyer have specific experience in the federal criminal court? Does the lawyer have specific experience defending clients accused of white collar crimes?

Follow the Paper Trail
Successful defense of white collar crimes requires a lawyer who knows how to follow the paper trail. The proof of guilt or innocence is often buried in a telephone record, a bank transfer record, or other documentation. At Stockstill & Webre Trial Lawyers LLC, we are known as strong investigators who can unravel the tangled threads of even the most complex cases involving white collar crimes.
The types of white collar crimes we are available to defend include:
- Credit card fraud and identity theft
- Embezzlement
- Mail fraud and wire fraud
- Bank fraud and mortgage fraud
- Obstruction of justice
- Corruption of a public official
- Violation of business immigration laws
Possession of Satellite Signal Intercept Equipment — Not Guilty Verdict: The federal government indicted our client for possessing equipment that was capable of intercepting satellite signals and for witness tampering. The FBI raided our client's office, where they found equipment used to intercept satellite signals. At the time, our client was on probation for the same offense from a previous case. The case went to a trial by jury. At the trial, the defense argued that the satellite signal theft equipment was planted there by his business partner in an attempt to obtain control over the business. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all charges.
